Daily Duties at Purdue University:

-Protein expression (such as band 3, ankyrin with (GST , HIS )and without a tag ), purification (ion exchange, affinity, hydrophobic chromatography ) from human RBCs and bacteria for protein complex, binding and crystallization studies -Expression and purification of full length GST tagged α-adducin in e-coli for 1) polyclonal α-adducin antibody production, 2) immune-blotting purposes and 3) protein complex studies -Synthesized and characterization of novel band 3 protein specific compound (DIDS-biotin) which enables single molecular studies on intact human and murine red blood cells -Single molecular study on normal and pathologic red blood cells of patients with hereditary hemolytic disorders (HE, HPP, HHy and SAO) and hemoglobin disorders (SS-ISC, SS-RSC and HbSC) -Developed novel scientific investigative procedures, protocols and reagents in support of assigned research projects. -Responsible for the implementation of standard laboratory procedures as well as the development of new procedures. -Maintained accurate, concise descriptions and records of all experiments and research projects conducted. -Expanded knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Presented research findings in conferences/ meetings -Prepared manuscripts for publication -Taught General and physical Chemistry labs. Conducted examinations and recitation classes
