Daily Duties at Porter Adventist Hospital:

• Manage the ordering of instrumentation and implants throughout Surgical Services, including the Porter Spine Clinic and the Colorado Joint Institute, as well as the majority of departments throughout the hospital. • Developed and implement a Departmental Orientation Guide, as well as an Annual Staff Competency. • Continuously follow up with Doctors and nurses, providing customer support and services. • Initiated staff skill core competencies for all key job responsibilities, and continue to coordinate all department continuing education programs. • Created a “Cattle Tag” system holding SPD and OR staff accountable for lost and/or broken instruments that is used throughout several Colorado facilities. • Constructed a Sterile Processing education program, taking the department from 20% certified staff to 100%. • Increased the department’s readiness for Joint Commission. • Started up a local IAHCSMM Chapter (1 Mile High Sterile Processing Professionals of Denver). • Manage 20 direct reports to provide sterility assurance of surgical instruments and implants for 22 OR’s and the other departments within Centura Health. • Facilitate meetings and shift report sessions with Sterile Processing Technicians, Operating Room Staff and Clinical Representative. • Managed and developed a short-term solution for Doctor preferred instrumentation. • Ongoing designation of proper responsibility to difficult employees for the promotion of accountability and overall departmental accomplishment and satisfaction. • Promote and strengthen team efficiency and productivity. • Continuously implement new and robust process controls and operations for the reporting capabilities of effective work inventory for more than 20 technicians. • Manage the maintenance and inventory of sterile processing and OR departments’ required technical equipment.
