Daily Duties at Carmax:

As A buyer im responsible for conducting vehicle appraisals, coordinating on-site auctions, and attending various regional auctions to locate inventory.On average a day as a Buyer i would conduct 15 appraisals on vehicles which include checking for structural damage know as Frame, doing a test drive and then looking up current auction trends from are auction results to deterrime a price for the vehicle.As a buyer daily i would do inventroy pricing to compare are inventroy with other dealers. Working with a staff of 20 As a seasoned Buyer i would lead a weekly auction with 150-200 vehicle where wholesale dealer will attent and try and buy. As being a season Buyer i would go on offsite rations for 3-6 months once a week to buy vehicle for inventry for are region in Tampa,Orlando,And Naples. will spend 8 to12 months learning the dynamics of the used car wholesale industry using various resources to determine the price that CarMax should pay for a used vehicle. I trackpurchases through the quality inspection and reconditioning process and set pricing based on sales data and competitive analysis of what other dealers are selling. As a Buyer were grading aganist targets the targets are buy percentages for total appraisals, appraisals times, and turnaround time from purchase to sale. For example an avg. month would be 200 appraisals, Buying @ 30% for retail, 20% valumax,35% for wholesale, appraisals time for the month would be 30mins and your Turnaround time for sale would be anywhere from 0-100 100 being the highest mean your inventroy sold quickly This position provides a unique mix of analytical and physical challenges due to the fast-paced nature of the business, and approximately 50% of a buyer's time is spent outdoors in a "hands-on" environment. Also as a Buyer I would help the sale team as a Sales Manager dealing with customers credit applications and downpayments i was crossed train as a sales manager to Manage the store and week by week terms. Ive have worked in the Miami location, The Miami Lakes Location, The Davie Location, Boyton Beach , And Tampa Location all as a cross trained buyer/sales manager program that only include 40 thuoghtout the enntire company My responsibilities are all operations of Car buying tracking of inventories and sales levels, checking competitors' sales activities, and watch general economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns. I accomplish this by studying sales records and inventory levels of current stock, identifying foreign and domestic suppliers, and keeping abreast of changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, needed products and materials. As a Buyer I’m also Responsible for organizing workloads on and off site, and troubleshooting. Acts as a manager in the absence of the Purchasing Manager. Delivering exceptional customer service understanding retail trends and become involved in the inventory planning process, consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise. My responsibilities are all operations of Car buying tracking of inventories and sales levels, checking competitors' sales activities by doing scearts shop visits, and watch general economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns.
