Daily Duties at Pacificorp:

Utilizing corporate software, perform 5 year electrical distribution system studies to plan for capital budget construction projects and assure continued superior electrical service. Perform fuse coordination studies on each circuit in the study and recommend change based on the results. Review relay settings for each feeder to assure no interruption of electrical power due to obsolete settings and recommended new settings when necessary with special emphasis on the five worst performing circuits. Perform detailed studies on large corporate customers concerning their electrical service. Team up with large account managers in the presentation of the study and answering the businesses questions about power outages and disturbances. Assisted corporate management in the development of capital budget expenditure plans with documentation and recommendations. Perform field purchases of electrical equipment when needed based on the technical recommendation. Assist in the completion of corporate Engineering Bulletins & Standards as well as the Material Witness newsletter on failed electrical equipment through knowledge and experience gleaned from field experience and other peers experience. supervise line crews while on call with other managers along with storm/other incident related power disturbances. Assist with electrical load transferring and material related issues during normal business hours and after hours. Assist Material Quality Engineers in he investigation of failed electrical equipment when asked. Address engineering related safety concerns at monthly safety meetings and visits with the line crews. In person, present to a field operations audience/personnel the recent changes an modifications as well as the purpose of the Distribution Construction Standards for line crews and field personnel. Perform electromagnetic field surveys for customers utilizing field test equipment and technical literature. Measurement findings and technical literature are presented at the time of each visit which is tailored to the customer. Assist with customer initiated requests concerning power quality, voltage fluctuation and Public Utility Commission investigations. Interface with technical staff if the scope and difficulty of the customer’s issue warrants it.
