Daily Duties at Lafarge:

Responsible for all aspects of an integrated 500Kton/year strip mine & stone processing plant and a 1.8 million yd3/year construction & demolition landfill facility located in Lordstown, Ohio. Management responsibilities of Ohio’s largest landfill include the direct oversight of plant supervisor, consultants, lead-men and subcontractors in the daily handling of 2,000 – 5,000 tons of railed waste, 500 – 1,000 tons of trucked-in waste and 150,000 tons/year of aggregate yard sales. Oversight management of a complete on-site 10 track rail yard covering more than 3 miles that includes a cable-driven railcar rotary dumper and thaw house. Responsible for developing and maintaining the long term site utilization plan that incorporates the many, and often competing, demands of aggregate mining with the adjacent landfill capacity demands while maintaining full regulatory compliance and synchronicity. Project manager on all landfill cell construction since 2006 and have systematically driven down the cost per acre of cell construction. Currently manage the workforce to achieve maximum performance efficiencies while maintaining compliance with the Management/Union collective bargaining agreement; help develop and maintain operating and capital budgets, maintain safety and regulatory compliance and coordinate the training of the workforce for OSHA, EPA as well as the local health department and local air agency programs. Work directly with landfill engineers, contractors, regulators, CSX Railroad managers, elected officials, internal and external legal counsel, HR personnel, sales & marketing staff, financial officers and union representatives. Maintained 25% to 38% pre-tax margins every year on operations.
