Daily Duties at Vestas American Wind Technologies:

Assist with technical electrical engineering aspects of the interconnection of wind turbine generators to electrical utilities in the USA & Canada; this involves implementing lock out/tag out procedures at each wind farm, evaluating the electrical distribution system layout and circuit capacity within the wind farms boundaries & its impact to the interconnected utilities circuits; reviewing , refining & approving the protection schemes for electrical faults within the wind farm and its impact on the interconnected utility's electrical circuits for optimal long term operation. At the direction of a manager, perform CIM (continuous improvement management) cases as the assigned engineer to a team of employees tasked with evaluating and improving the electrical systems of wind turbines experiencing difficulties. This included any and all electrical circuitry within the turbine and any components which could affect the operation of the circuitry. Electrical data was gathered and evaluated to determine the root cause(s) of the problem and then craft potential solutions to solve the problem. The solution(s) were evaluated by the team and proposals created to test the effectiveness of the solutions in trial runs where more data was gathered. This data was utilized in evaluating the proposal's effectiveness by the team. An solution implementation plan was crafted for each wind farm to be reviewed and approved by corporate management for execution.
