Daily Duties at University Of Tennessee Extension:
Developed personal financial management curricula and taught classes in Consumer Behavior to undergraduate students as part of University Extension outreach. Prepared numerous papers, presentations, and proposals designed to secure grant funding and improve programming efforts. Served as a founding member of the Tennessee Jump$tart Coalition, a non-profit organization working to improve the personal financial literacy of Tennessee's youth. Developed an Employee Education Program for piloting in the State. This program sought to identify specific issues of financial management, nutrition, and parenting that manufacturing employees face and to establish contractual relationships with employers to provide necessary workshops with the goal of improving employee productivity. Taught a Consumer Behavior Course to an upper-level undergraduate class. National Committee Member of the Family Economist/Social Worker Dialogue sponsored by the National Endowment for Financial Education. Served on the Strategic Planning Committee for the UT Agricultural Extension Service. Developed a financial management publication: Talking About Money and Setting Money Goals. Developed a 20-session Money Wise financial management curriculum module and a four-session consumer economics module for Department of Human Services contract. Developed a Basic Financial Management Program Partnership between Tennessee banks and UT Extension Service to improve financial management skills of limited resource families. Prepared and submitted various Information Sheets to Extension Agents and the news media that addressed personal financial management effectiveness. Facilitated a roundtable session on Employee Education Programs. Was an invited participant to the National Endowment for Financial Education’s National symposium--The State of Financial Literacy in America—Evolutions and Revolutions. An Employee Education Program for Limited Resource Employees: A Global Perspective. Program proposal presented at an International Symposium in Seoul, South Korea, at the Seoul National University, September 2000. Residents’ Perspectives on Social and Economic Development in Their Rural Community. Paper presented at the Community Development Society’s Conference, July 2000.
