Daily Duties at Sigma Micro:

• Hired, trained, developed, and managed an international team of eight functional designers, user interface designers, and documentation specialists. Established team cohesiveness while meeting the needs of diverse individuals on two continents • Ensured the delivery of accurate, consistent, thorough, and compelling functional and graphical user interface design specifications and online help • Created departmental project plans to communicate effort estimates, task dependencies, and resource allocation. Monitored and reported team status across three release cycles and numerous custom development engagements • Participated in release planning, change control, stakeholder rollout, and project retrospective meetings • Established a professional development lending library, ongoing lunch-and-learn sessions, and a monthly book club • Defined a comprehensive design strategy for new product development that included use cases, process flow diagrams, data dictionary, wire frames, and detailed screen shots • Translated high-level business requirements into functional specifications to articulate system processes, user tasks, use cases, and screen layouts • Created information architecture and user interface guidelines for web- and windows-based applications • Conceptualized, designed, and developed a data dictionary application to ensure the consistency of field names, error messages, and other user interface components • Developed comprehensive user interface guidelines and led the development of quality review checklists for screen designs • Led cross-functional reviews of design artifacts • Traveled to India to train developers on critical processes and technologies • Acted as a project coordinator and communications liaison between U.S. and India offices • Developed browser-based interfaces for a legacy retail application, based on functional narratives / use cases and user interface specifications • Analyzed system requirements to create high- and low-level technical specifications • Assisted offshore development contractors with development of browser-based rich internet applications (RIAs)
