I read structural blueprints to do the layout and fit up of beams, plates (bent and flat), tubes, angle, and bars (flat and round). When I finished the layout and fit up, I would then weld the material using mainly Flux Core, unless the job called for MIG. I cleaned and repaired my own welds and mistakes on fit up and occasionally I was needed to do the same on other people's. I also welded for the fitters who did the fit up on trusetts, frames, and skids. I would cut and grind parts/material when needed. I also operated the overhead cranes, forklifts, and skytraks to move material. I would help assemble the decks for towers to ensure they were done right and to check for any repairs or modifications that were needed to be done before they were shipped to the job site.
