Daily Duties at Advocate Health Care :

Acted as charge nurse of a team including two family practice physicians, and four specialty area physicians. I worked two different AHC clinics as triage nurse until another triage nurse was hired. I acted as preceptor of two new triage nurses in my tenure at AHC. Accepted the responsibility for the preparation and performance of bi-annual mock codes within the department. Transitioned between staff nurse to team leader enabled me to improve patient care by streamlining patient flow. Willingly worked extra hours with physicians when there is staff shortage. Willing to accommodate when there is a need for urgent care staff, as to prevent the overutilization of temporary staff. My flexibility was regularly evident by my covering areas of the practice short staffed, particularly family practice and infectious disease while maintaining my triage duties. As triage nurse I documented phone assessments, reported directly to physicians, utilized nursing process and physical assessment skills to provide in-person and telephone nursing care. Demonstrated excellent knowledge and skills in performance of inhalation therapy and asthma education. Researched, verified and completed all patient prescription refills, and completed one-on-one patient teaching, especially pertaining to diabetic and asthma teaching and pregnancy histories. Demonstrated a tremendous enthusiasm for learning and growing within nursing profession.
