Daily Duties at State Of Nebraska, Department Of Health And Human Services, Division Of Public Health:

Responsible for the administration of all programs in the Units of Community Health Planning and Protection (includes Bioterrorism Preparedness, Rural Health, Minority Health, the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, Emergency Management Services, and Community Planning); Lifespan Health Services ( includes benefit programs such as WIC (Women, Infants and Children), CFSP (Commodities, Food Supplement Program, Every Woman Matters and Wise Woman)); Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (includes benefit Programs such as HOPWA (Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS and the Ryan White Program along with numerous others); and Public Health Support (includes the Office of Epidemiology, the Office of Health Statistics, the Behavioral Risk factor Survey, the Cancer Registry and numerous registries. Principle Investigator (PI) for all grants in Section. I provide direction and oversight of all personnel issues including progressive disciplinary action, employment, deployment, work-place well-being, cultural competency, asset identification and management; I provided decision support to the Chief medical Officer, the Director of the Division of Public health, the Chief executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer as needed and other Division Directors upon request. I was responsible for all fiscal matters in my section (the overall Division budget was over 165 million dollars) including State General Funds, grants and federal aid administration, contracts, and financial status reports; risk communication especially during threats such as bioterrorism and disease outbreaks.
