Most manufacturers (Merial, Bayer, Ft. Dodge, Pfizer) would not sell direct to 1800PetMeds due to their marketing strategy and relationship with veterinarians. We would need to buy heart worm and flea and tick medications (second source) from veterinarians in order to resell to our customer. I contacted and visited veterinarians in order to convince them to sell merchandise to 1800PetMeds. I was responsible for reviewing pricing by manufacturer, setting purchase price, creating PO's, transporting goods, and working with Accounts Payables to see that vendors (veterinarians) were paid properly. I was responsible for starting our wholesale department, marketing our products and taking order from pet stores, feed & tack shops, groomers, etc. I exhibited at major trade shows like H.H. Backer and Global Pet Fair.
