Daily Duties at Pittsburgh Va Health System:

In an acute medical-surgical, critical care, 250 bed urban hospital, supervised management of patient care to veterans throughout entire facility working at times with another PCC and at times alone. reassigning staff where they were needed most, being involved in decisions of moving more stable patients out of the critical care area to accommodate more critical patients in the emergency room; obtained equipment for both the units and the operating room; arranged ICU beds and OR team for liver transplant patients; assisted in medical code situations although not ACLS certified (ICU nurse administered emergency medications); staff education in areas of communication focusing on customer service, diversity training, and workplace violence; assisted staff with problem-solving and handling clients with psychiatric-mental health conditions needing medical-surgical care and crisis intervention. Prior to PCC position worked as a psychiatric staff nurse in the 1,000 bed urban psychiatric/mental-health/substance abuse facility providing direct nursing care, medication administration, documentation, patient teaching, led nursing psychoeducation groups; seclusion/restraint care, behavioral and crisis intervention; utilized least restrictive principles; some case management for substance abuse/chemical dependent clients.
