Daily Duties at Ul Lafayette :

Coordinating the psychiatric/mental health clinical orientation for approx. 66-78 nursing students at the second semester junior college level; clinical simulation actitivies involving possible patient-nurse scenarios. While actually in the hospital and outpatient clinic area, the safety and well-being of 8-10 clinical nursing students and shared responsibility for 20 patients on acute inpatient psychiatric mental health unit; the related clinical paperwork including nursing care planning, medication administration, behavioral interventions, patient individual/group teaching, discharge planning/relapse prevention; screening tools for depression, tardive dyskinesia, and cognitive deficits. Master Teacher responsbilities for a hybrid classroom/computer supported class (Moodle, Blackboard) include lecture content for all the major psychiatric disorders involving children/adolecents,adults and the elderly; writing exams including clinical reasoning exams; counseling of students who have less than satisfactory performance; remediation of students who do not perform well on standardized tests at the end of each semester and the end of the 4 year BSN program. In the past also helped develop a health promotion course with and emphasis on wellness, stress management, disease prevention, early detection; prevention of substance abuse and domestic violence. for a hybrid classroom/computer supported class.
