Daily Duties at Kaiser Permanente:
. These duties consisted of monitoring patient flow by assessing the number of charts pending intake from the medical assistants, assisting with escorting patients to the examination rooms, and informing the physician on the current flow (number of patients waiting). I pulled paper messages from the reception area, pulled the corresponding charts and attached the messages for provider review/response. After provider response to those paper messages I called the patients to relay orders or test results as directed. I gave injections and oral medications per physician order. I monitored patients required this care during treatments and assisted the providers during minor surgeries which required setting up sterile trays. I exited the patients after the provider visit by stamping paper lab slips and giving directions as needed and scheduling follow up appointments. I worked with four physicians, two mid-level clinicians and two medical assistants, and the RN team leader. Frequently I worked over-time in the urgent care clinics which managed a higher acuity of patients which required working and processing a higher volume of patients at a faster pace. These duties included more direct patient care such as injections, hypostatic vital signs, applying dressings, splints, air casts, and crutch education and adjustments, IV monitoring, processing labs slips and x-ray requisitions for immediate turnaround. There was more communication with the patients and families in the waiting, rooms, and prior to during and after the visits to coordinate care and follow up.
What they like about Kaiser Permanente:
You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
