Daily Duties at Officemax, Inc.:

Was part of district leadership staff. During the District Manager's vacations, corporate meetings, and sick time, I assumed the roles and responsibilities of the DM. The Columbus, OH district had 15 stores and combined annual sales of over 85 million dollars. • Performed all the duties listed below for a store manager of a $7million-store, with 4 assistant managers and 35 associates. • Responsible for training internal and external associates hired/promoted to supervisor and above for the entire district. • Performed district manager responsibilities upon district manager absence. • Rolled out new programs to district stores and ensured that all policies were followed. • Experience working with SAP inventory analysis programs; headed up the rollout to an entire district. • Researched and analyzed all financial cost trends to create the best bottom-line profit for the store. • Identified slow-moving product throughout a 15-store district to create a better product turnover level per store, increase sales, and decrease markdowns. • Supervised annual inventories throughout the district, working closely with store managers and outside inventory companies to protect the assets of the company. • Trained supervisors, assistant managers, and store managers on all internal audit procedures to create a better understanding of the processes and to increase the audit scores throughout the district.

What they like about Officemax, Inc.:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
