Daily Duties at Navy:
Provide waterborne and land security, aircraft and flight line security, strategic weapons and cargo security, maritime security and platform protection; conduct customs operations, corrections operations, detainee operations, and protective service operations; perform force protection, physical security and law enforcement organize and train personnel in force protection, physical security, law enforcement, and weapons proficiency; develop plans for physical security and force protection enhancement of Navy bases, installations, property, and personnel; and assist commands in conducting terrorist threat analysis and implementing defensive measures. Administer breathalyzer tests, combat first aid and basic life support; advise suspects of acknowledgement and waiver of rights; advise suspects of acknowledgement and waiver of rights; apply restraint devices, rules of engagement and use of force continuum; apprehend military suspects; complete security reports and documents; conduct criminal investigations, inspections, shakedowns, preliminary investigations, prisoner and detainee cell extractions, escorts, transports and security patrols; evaluate Military Working Dog performance; execute tactical convoys; operate communications equipment; operate crew served weapons, Electronic Security System (ESS) equipment; emergency vehicles, non-lethal weapons, prisoner and detainee control center; participate in Guardmount; perform crowd control techniques; perform required maintenance for security gear, equipment and unarmed self-defense techniques; provide testimony for official proceedings; recognize improvised explosive devices; request search authorizations; and verify identification credentials and documents. Conduct corrections and detainee guard training; conduct Guardmount; conduct security briefs and debriefs; survey travel routes for protective service details; conduct security rills; conduct security exercises; conduct security training; conduct small arms and crew served weapons training; manage corrections and detainee unit programs; and supervise prisoner and detainee movements and activities. Approve security reports and documents; conduct physical security surveys; conduct security post requirements and manning assessments; coordinate inter-agency responses; coordinate protective service detail assignments; develop security supporting policy and guidance; establish entry control point; evaluate security training and manage security programs; plan, direct, organize, schedule, and evaluate training programs for personnel; prepare and review naval correspondence, instructions, and messages; review and coordinate work schedules; prioritize overall department work; coordinate and evaluate status and impact of department work; review, recommend, and monitor divisional programs (quality assurance, training, safety, etc); provide guidance on job performance; identify and mediate inter-departmental differences, and assist, review, recommend, and monitor the implementation of policy statements, operation orders, and directives.
