Daily Duties at Tri City Medical Center:

Started as staff nurse, RN in med/surg. worked various areas over the years to learn. Responsibilities were IV starts and administration, medication administration, patient evaluation w/ documentation, patient needs evaluation and coordination of discharge plan of care with patient, family, physician, and other needed services. Coordinate and provide care according to care plan and with daily procedures such as xrays, lab draws, etc. Take off new MD orders and make sure they are followed. Call physicians with test results, patient status changes, and for new orders when needed. Know pertinent medical history on all assigned patients. Endoscopy RN - 2 yrs. = assisted gastroenterologists with esophagogastricduodenoscopy and colonoscopy procedures - administered conscious sedation, monitored patient during procedure, assisted with patient positioning as needed, nursing documentation of procedure, recovery w/ documentation, discharge instructions to patient and driver, cleaning of scopes, maintanence of cleaning supplies, responded to on-call emergent procedures such as bleeds of either upper or lower GI system. Collected, prepared, and sent specimens to lab with proper documents Staff RN in E.R. for last 4 yrs. = patient care for all types emergency patients, all ages, triage, IV's, respiratory care, lab draws, Advanced Cardiac Life Care for patients who coded, standby asst physicians for vaginal exams, administer emergency medications, participated in stroke study drug administration, administered charcoal or placed stomach tubes for drug overdoses, inserted foley caths, provided care for psych patients, nursing documentation on all patients, care plans, administered conscious sedation for joint reduction after dislocation, administered pain medication, administered antiarrhythmic drugs, conferred with physician on each patient.
