Sprint Work Values

Daily Duties at Sprint:

Responsibilities included, provide Install of Ciena and Alactel DWDM transport system including Test and Turn up. Sonet Cisco 15454 Man Rings, NEC ITS-2400 OC48 Sonet rings. Alactel 1648 OC48 Sonet Rings. DCD 523 Telecom Solutions and SSU Symmetricom clocks, Built three Long distance POPs on the Sprint Campus. Completed installation of overhead superstructure and Supplementary DC Power Dist Bays. Installed DC power plants at switch sites, POP and Reign sites. Served as acting supervisor on multiple occasions for crews of 12 or more assigning work correcting problems and bringing projects to a completed status for (NEIS) Network Engineering & Installation Services. • Installed Tested and Turn up Ciena DWDM Transport Equipment at Switch, POP and Reign Sites. Duties included Bay install fiber prep, DC Breaker install equipment and test and turn up on the Sprint Existing Fiber Plant. Routes could range in distance from 50 to 250 miles from the east terminal to a west terminal with multiple OLA and SOADM in between. Increasing Sprint Data capacity from (OC3)(OC12) (OC48 – 2g) level OC192 -96 channels. • Installed Tested and Turn up Alactel 1640 DWDM Transport Equipment at Switch, POP and Reign Sites. Duties included Bay install fiber prep, DC Breaker install equipment and test and turn up on the Sprint Existing Fiber Plant. • Installed Tested and turn up Cisco DWDM 15454 (2) Fiber BLSR Sonet MAN Rings at Sprint locations with a Fiber Plant connected to the AT&T ILECs transport and wireless switch sites. Duties included channel balancing of DWDM equipment. DC power connections, mounting equipment in a cage setting at the ILECs sites. Testing equipment and coordinating with other install teams to bring light up on the ring without disrupting existing traffic. Results achieved reduce access charges to the ILECs which increase sprint profits. • Installed multiple NEC ITS-2400 Sonet Rings at OC48 level on Sprint Fiber Network. Install required cabling to DSX-3 jacks, Optical bulkhead Ports, OSSNET required cat5 connections 6509 routers and Patch Panel connections. DC breakers were used at SPDU and night work was required for customer safety. Project resulted in 32000 voice circuit capacity for multiple cities across the nation. • Built four Long Distance POPs sites on the Sprint Campus. Equipment involved was as follows. Cisco 6509 routers, Ciena 40 channel transport equipment. NEC ITS 2400 Sonet Rings, Alactel OC48 Sonet rings. ADC Optical Bulkhead bays. DSX-3 bays and DS-1 bays. Level (4) Earthquake bracing to support cable runways. Was lead rep with Union labor for all connections back to PBX and RF equipment. Project completed on time allowing voice and Data communications to all buildings on the sprint campus back to the main Switch in the KC AREA.
