Pharmerica Work Values

Daily Duties at Pharmerica:

I was one of 4 Pharmascists during a shift. The position would rotate responsibilities during the shift and each day. Once a month each Pharmacist would have a pager for a week for after hours calls. If any call came in the pharmacist must return to the pharmacy. The on call pharmcist would be alone and must enter the order, pull the medication or mix the IV and call a driver to have it delivered to the facility. Normally, Nursing staff at contracted long term facilities fax over orders from the doctor. The faxes are then processed by order entry technician. The technicians then ask any questions about the orders before they are processed. The orders are then checked by the pharmacist for accuracy. After the orders are checked they get electronically sent to the back of the building where other technicians pull the drugs that are unit dose and box them for the appropriate patient. Pharmacist then checks the boxed drug to the electronic orders for accuracy. Nursing staff would send over Lab results on patients on IV antibiotics, blood thinners or vitamin replacement therapy. We would follow patients per doctors collaborative agreement and adjust dosing. We would then request more labs to be drawn based on the dosing interval and steady state time for the given medication. We would then follow until Patient is therapeutic or no longer in need of the specific medications.
