Daily Duties at Freddie Mac:
Demonstrate sharp legal acumen in evaluating and authoring written analyses of legislation and regulations. Continuously update the General Counsel and staff on complex matters involving financial services issues in order to promote compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements governing foreclosures and mortgage servicing. Review updates and changes to the laws and draft comment letters in response to proposed legislation and regulations affecting the company, homebuyers, and mortgage lenders, further illustrating exceptional research, analysis, and writing skills. Collaborate with legal support staff to assist them in understanding the legislative regulatory process, playing a key role in their performance and development. • Draft testimonies for the General Counsel and other senior management to present at congressional hearings. • Conduct in-depth review and analysis of new business initiatives and products to ensure critical compliance with HUD, FHFA, and Treasury statutory and regulatory requirements. • Successfully respond to inquiries from various congressional offices seeking interpretation of Freddie Mac's guidelines on mortgage purchasing, mortgage servicing, and foreclosure requirements. • Proactively participate in company’s pro bono program to represent Virginia residents on various legal matters.
