Daily Duties at Bae Systems:

KomNod Capture Team •Traveled with my capture team to Stockholm, Sweden in order to meet with executives from Cisco Systems and Atea, an IT-Management Company. •Participated in a 6-hour brainstorming session to discuss the technical requirements for a KomNod, a Network Based Defense system. During this discussion I asked probing questions in order to ascertain the Voice of the Customer and the fundamental requirements of the system. •We then traveled to Örnsköldsvik, Sweden to meet with a Business Enterprise executive from our BAE Systems Hägglunds AB Division. We began working towards a collaborative effort between BAE Systems North America and our Swedish counterparts. •Based on the information I’d gained from these meetings, after returning to the states, I performed a trade study of the network management system to be used for the defense system, created a 10-page SOW for Atea, and a work breakdown for their work share for the proposal, among other necessary tasks. C2 MRAP Vehicle •Worked with employees from BAE Systems Austin, Texas on the communications system for a C2 (command and control) MRAP (mine resistant ambush protected) vehicle. This is a collaborate effort among engineers from San Diego, Austin and Wayne. •In January, 2009 we met in Austin for a few days for a networking/brainstorming session in order to match faces with the names, in an intensive 2-day kick off meeting during which we discussed all of the hardware and software for the vehicles. Now we are working in a borderless environment in an incredible exchange of information across the country. •Created an equipment list for all of the communications hardware to be used on the vehicle. Used this information to develop systems interconnect diagrams using Visio and a cabling interconnect list for all of the hardware.

What they like about Bae Systems:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
