Daily Duties at Bae Systems:

Systems Engineer for The Novel Satellite Communications Program. •I first simulated the QPSK waveform in MATLAB as an introduction to the program, and then began to evaluate the transmitter platforms based on their hardware (FPGA and DSP), software environment. •I then ascertained advantages and disadvantages to selecting the platform and researched the various development flow techniques that could be used to be run on these platforms, evaluated the best options, and composed a list of advantages and disadvantages. •Attended the Software Define Radio Forum in Pennsylvania and met with the Chief Technical Officer of LyrTech, a Canada-based company. While there I discussed the hardware and development flow with the LyrTech engineers, viewed a demo, and assessed the platform’s fit to our proposed need. •Back in New Jersey, I met with representatives from Spectrum Signal in order to discuss the development flow intensively. After obtaining a copy of AccelDSP, Spectrum Signal’s development flow software, I executed the software with in-house, legacy code and provided feedback on the product’s ease of use. •Created a document which defined the scope of the problem, detailed the development flow options (the design flow, trade offs, and drawbacks), explained the platforms evaluation process and results, documented the waveform requirements, compared the operating systems that may have been used, and concluded with a recommendation for the platform selection.
