Daily Duties at City Of Idaho Falls:

I was hired to design civil works projects and then insure that they were constructed in accordance with my design requirements and as per the contract I set up. Identify and prioritize infrastructure improvements (Sanitary Sewer, Water, Storm Drain, Roadways, pathways, and Bridges) throughout the City. Provide the Public Works Director with budget figures for proposed infrastructure improvement projects. Identify and obtain outside funding for projects that qualify. To obtain the funding I completed applications, gave presentations, and negotiated with federal, state, and county governments and agencies. I also provided necessary information and feedback to assure that the funding was spent as intended. Perform design calculations and engineering analysis as necessary for project design. Direct the work of technical staff (4-8) for design surveying, construction surveying, drafting, design calculations, construction quality control, construction administration, and cost control. Review other engineer designs and submittals for additions to the City area and infrastructure. Obtain and administer engineering, planning, and environmental consultant agreements utilized for timelier project completion or special expertise.
