Daily Duties at Waldorf Astoria:
As a senior Housekeeping Manager my duties were to effectively communicate work assignments and job responsibilities to a unionized Housekeeping departmet of over 500 team members. The Waldorf Astoria was over 1400 guest rooms and suites in addition the massive public space elements. The daily cleaning and presentation odf the property was one of my main responsibilites. Routine inspections throughout the hotel to ensure consistency in our approach and techniques were paramount. On the spot coaching and counseling, as well as formal reviews were also required. Daily review of hotel staffing and scheduling to maintain a positive work enivironment as well meeting the requirements of the collective bargaining agreement. I was often used as the lead contact with sales and conventions services to transform standard guest room accommodations to additional meeting or event space depending on the clients needs.
What they like about Waldorf Astoria:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
