Daily Duties at Lincoln General Insurance Co ("Lgic"):

As Field MGA Auditor (6/2004 - 10/2005): Traveled nationwide to personally conduct underwriting, pricing and procedural audits on the operations and staffs of MGAs having been given (by LGIC) authority to market, underwrite, price and issue policies on LGIC's behalf. Conduct spontaneous training sessions with MGA field staff members if management so requested. Compiled report data while performing the audits. Present clients' execs with preliminary report before departing the audit location. Evaluate data, formalize opinion of client's case management and workflow process, prepare report and release to parties responsible for the audited clients. As team supervisor (4/2003 - 6/2004): Train, develop, and manage staff of 9 divided among three functional roles of underwriting (4); underwriting assistants (3); & clerical (2). Maintain, and improve where needed, procedures, pricing rule adjustments and forms' manuscripting to suit unique risk conditions for review and approval by management, legal and compliance staff. Educated staff on such adjustments. Maintained client relations via minimal marketing travel; telephone & correspondence. Identified books of business deserving of formal underwriting guidelines and/or forms' manuscripting and maintenance as well as composing suggested marketing materials if appropriate. Then I composed all such and presented to Management/Legal/Compliance staffs for approval. Once approval was secured, conducted training seminars on all related matters, materials & procedures often across team staff "lines". When underwriting: I assessed risk exposure and controls in place; decided whether to pursue or decline the business; if to pursue, determined appropriate pricing, terms and conditions of coverage contract to be offered; then presented to client with pursuasion points of interest to achieve a favorable order closing; once order secured, proceeded with contract issuance instructions to support staff and followed through until contract was ready for delivery to client by either mail or personal dlvy. As a client manager: Performed semi-annual reviews of each client's book's of business profitability; where findings called for such, addressed concerns with client and proposed remedial action plan; then, monitored progress toward achievment of pre-agreed goals toward better results. If concurrence or improvement could not be achieved, recommended contract termination to management/marketing &/or legal/compliance staffs if needed. As Team Supervisor, I also kept "an eye open" for potential new producer clients whom I sometimes would identify worthy of recommendation for agent contract appointment and prepare such appointment proposals which included a synopsis of the prospective agent's existing book of business along with pre-agreed potential sharing of that book with my employer.
