Daily Duties at Sinai Grace Hospital:

• Conduct interviews and psychosocial evaluations for patients in the emergency setting in order to set limited goals and employ focused problem solving techniques. • Provide supportive grief counseling to patients and their families in trauma cases brought to the emergency room. • Complete psychiatric evaluation, consult psychiatry and provide recommendations/arrangements for either inpatient or outpatient psychiatric placements. • Counsel and arrange shelter placement for those patients who are homeless or in domestic violence situations. • Provide rape and child abuse counseling, investigations and attend court hearings. • Arrange discharge-planning activities such as nursing home, child/adult foster care placement, visiting nurses, medical supplies and necessary referrals for community services. • Participate in staff meetings and educational sessions.
