Daily Duties at Penn State Cooperative Extension:

▪ Responsible for all aspects of program development and deployment of community wellness programs, including several diabetes programs, in multi-county and statewide areas as well as manage projects to support these wellness programs and campaigns in the complex Penn State University system ▪ Developed, marketed, conducted, evaluated, and fiscally managed a wide range of community wellness programming at the state and local level using creative delivery methods and teaching techniques and conducted over 1500 public presentations ▪ Collaborated with various businesses, vendors, community organizations, and agencies to offer educational programming ▪ Served as a resource to the public and colleagues and provided individual medical nutrition therapy ▪ Provided leadership at the state level for diabetes and food safety programming through serving as chair of state Diabetes and Food Safety Teams ▪ Developed statewide evaluation tools for various wellness programs, including diabetes programs, to assess effectiveness ▪ Wrote grant proposals to support numerous state and local educational programs ▪ Oversaw budgets associated with county program funds and grants ▪ Authored nutrition (including numerous diabetes topics) and food safety articles for newspapers, magazines, and newsletters, including Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Lancaster Farming columns for past 17 years ▪ Conducted live monthly call-in radio shows with numerous focusing on diabetes ▪ Supervised nutrition paraprofessionals, nutrition program assistants, and nutrition students and interns ▪ Developed expertise in herbal medicine, dietary supplements, diabetes, and evaluation methods and conducted professional presentations on these topics at the local, state, and national level ▪ Served on numerous university committees, including Search Committee for Food Science Department Head, Outreach Evaluators Committee, and Staff Advisory Committee to Director of Extension
