Daily Duties at Experian Information Solutions:
Promoted to database administrator to provide higher level of support to financial applications worked on as programmer analyst. Development, test and production database creation and maintenance. Data conversions. Performance tuning and monitoring using Omegamon, DB2 Explain and Visual Explain. Database backup and recovery. Perform full cycle of database activities from initial logical and physical database design through development and implementation. Provided data modeling and reverse engineering support using CA Erwin. Supported data conversion/database population, SQL review and tuning and participated in database standards development and documentation. Implemented and maintained database security and business continuation planning (BCP). Leveraged new database technologies and techniques to optimize costs ensuring highest customer availability and promoting best practices across all database assets. Reduced annual system resource costs long running applications through effective analysis analysis and tuning of application imbedded SQL coding, improving process and performance. Project lead on migration of major online and web applications from one DB2 subsystem to another in order to reduce hardware costs through consolidation efforts. Migration successfully completed with maximum up-time and availability. Lead project on migration of DB2 subsystems from DB2 Version 7 to Version 8. Maintained effective communication throughout migration process resulting in successful completion of schedule tasks. Prepared test cases and auditing reports in order to assure successful conversion of legacy file data to DB2 tables. Worked closely with management to ensure attainment of projected goals, keeping an open line of effective communication so that issues could be dealt with in a timely manner. Streamlined database access processes where needed, using available reporting tools. Effectively worked with users, providing them with the essential knowledge of proper database access techniques. Supported off-shore programming personnel.
