Daily Duties at Commercial Metals Company:

• Assign, coordinate, and review the work of Accounting Department • Manage all aspects of the closing process to include: daily, monthly and yearly closings • Report inventory purchases and other transactions on a daily basis for inventory over 2 million dollars • Reconcile and report inventory counts to the general ledger including performing cut-off procedures • Reconcile price changes and transfers of inventory between branches • Prepare various reports for gross margin, cost of good sold and shrinkage • Perform accounting activities such as processing account receivables and accounts payable • Custodian for fixed assets and inventory • Perform the functions necessary in controlling and maintaining payroll system by ensuring accurate distribution of payroll checks and reviewing general ledger payroll accounts • Perform human resources responsibilities such as processing newly hired & terminated employees • Ensure daily preparation of cash drawer and perform daily cash reconciliation • Ensure general ledger accounts are reconciled and account analyses have been performed on a monthly basis • Staff Accountant Oct 2006 - Nov 2007 • Calculate and prepare checks for expense reports, utilities, taxes and other payments • Prepare and issue invoices, account statements and financial statements according to established procedures • Process accruals, journal and ledger entries to classify, record and summarize numerical and financial data • Perform financial calculations such as amounts due, interest charges, balances and discounts. • Monitor status of account receivables aging schedule to ensure that payments were current • Prepare bank deposits by compiling payments from customers, verifying and balancing receipts to send checks or other forms of payments to banks
