Daily Duties at New York Radiation And Oncology:
I was responsible for opening the clinic and performing the morning warm-up of the machine that included the output checks of two photon energies and five electron energies using the veridose and diode phantom. I also checked the lasers and aligned them if needed. My duties also included performing the quality assurance of the CT machine using the water phantom and obtaining five readings to confirm whether the CT was operable for use on patients as per manufacturer's specification. I diligently performed Quality Assurance on IMRT plans, which involved taking film using EDR (extended dose range) on a cylindrical phantom, then scanning the film using the RIT system and comparing the film to the Central Axis Isodose lines from the Oncentra Master Plan for each IMRT patient before the third treatment. I was also able to do a Treatment plan on Oncentra planning system. Additionally, I calibrated the portal image system and ensured that the inventory was up to date for all the necessary immobilization devices and the medical supplies. I would assist the doctor for all HDR procedures (Tandem and Ovoid, Vaginal cylinders and MammoSite) using Nucleotron V3 afterloader.
