Daily Duties at Doe Headquarters:

Previously assigned as principal consultant on numerous projects for the EH Office of Nuclear and Facility Safety and the EM Office of Safety and Health. Assignments involved performance of facility startup assessments and program development. Major responsibilities included the following: • Assigned as an expert project management consultant to the HEU and Plutonium Working Group Assessment Team Projects. These assessments identified and prioritized environmental, safety and health vulnerabilities stemming from fissile material operations and storage as the result of the cessation of nuclear weapons production. The assessments also served as an information base for identifying interim corrective actions and options for the safe management of HEU and plutonium materials. Participated in assessments of Los Alamos, Sandia, Argonne-East, and New Brunswick National Laboratories, responsible for the identification and target-hazard-barrier analysis of operations, maintenance, fire protection, ventilation, criticality safety, radiation protection, and safety analysis-related vulnerabilities. As part of the Plutonium Vulnerability project, participated in the assessment of the Savannah River Site (SRS), responsible for the analysis of maintenance and operations activities and the safety analysis review of various facilities at the site. Tasks included the inspection of plutonium processing and storage areas and the development of the final SRS site assessment report. Upon completion of these assignments, assisted in the development of the final HEU and Plutonium Working Group Reports that documented the most serious vulnerabilities to DOE workers, the public, and the environment.
