Daily Duties at Ppg Industries:
- Synthesis of new acrylic and siloxane-based random and block-copolymers for automotive and industrial coatings (solventborne and powder) cured either by thermal or UV-dual cure mechanisms. - Synthesis of stabilized surface-modified inorganic nanoparticles dispersions (silica, alumina) for enhanced mar and scratch resistance in acrylic ceramic clearcoats. - Synthesis of hybrid organic-inorganic acrylic polyols for scratch resistant powder and liquid (1K and 2K) clearcoats. - Surface modification and implementing of the silica-based nanotechnology in automotive and industrial coatings. - Synthesis of new waterborne and solventborne poly(acrylic) and poly(urethanes) grind vehicles for pigment dispersants. - Understanding and characterization of physical and rheological properties of the crosslinked clearcoats, problem solving involving primer/basecoat/clearcoat interactions. - Supervised 3-4 synthesis and formulation BS chemists and technicians.
