Daily Duties at Cleveland Metropolitan School District:
I moved to Ohio in July, 1999 and it took me a year to find a teaching job with CMSD for the 2000-2001 school year. I worked every day with urban, at-risk children moving and adapting to where the district needed me most. During my ten years there I was moved to four different schools and my teaching positions ranged from kindergarten to sixth grades, with me changing positions a total of twelve times. I worked with teams of other teachers and sometimes taught self-contained classes and sometimes departmentalized classes of students with mixed-abilities that included special education and bilingual students. I created differentiated lessons on a daily basis to reach all of my diverse student population.
What they like about Cleveland Metropolitan School District:
Organizations with strong, centralized leadership are particularly attractive to you. You require a work environment with leadership that aggressively seeks to expand and grow the business and does so in a visible and decisive manner. In general you prefer to work in an environment in which there is a strong link between leadership, its actions, and a strong set of company-wide values.

A true story written by three men who grew up in poverty in urban Newark, NJ. They made a pact with each other to rise above the ghettos. In the end, they did become doctors and now serve in the same city in which they grew up. |
We Beat the Streets |
This is the adolescent version of The Pact. I like to read this version to my intermediate classes to show them college is a possibility for them. |
