Daily Duties at Ppg Industries, Inc.:

The Crestline plant is an automotive glass fabrication facility with over 300 employees. The Production department consisted of five direct reports and a total of 250 employees. Environment, health & safety, quality and cost control were all key accountabilities. Training was also a major area of focus as attrition was high due to retirements. Each year, the Production Superintendent was responsible for generating a budget for the following year. A 5-7% productivity improvement was expected each year through speed and yield improvements, expense reductions and labor efficiencies. The Production Scheduling group also reported to the Production Superintendent. The Production Superintendent filled in as Plant Manager when he was out.
