Group M Work Values

Daily Duties at Group M:

An analyst in the GroupM Business Science department is responsible for the collection, cleansing and modeling of data from clients such as McDonalds, Kaplan University, KFC, Pizza Hut, Panera, Mazda and so on. Personally, I was responsible for this and more. I was initially hired as a Freelance in 9/09 in order to build tools that would calculate the price of a project that could range from $40,000 up into the millions of dollars. In doing so, I was responsible for the collection of all hours from a database as associated with historical projects and breaking them down into project segments by role (analyst, manager, director, executive) and developing an algorithm that would determine based on industry vertical what the estimated capacity allocation would be and how to calendarize this. Additionally, I was responsible for documenting the operational process by which our departments operated. When I first arrived to GroupM, we were 3 individual departments all operating within 8 city blocks of one another. In January of 2010, when we brought them together, this process was the central point upon which each of the departments was to align in the first order of developing a solitary unit.

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
