Daily Duties at Md Anderson Cancer Center:
A matrix reporting relationship to the AVP for Operations and Nursing Practice and Head, Division of Nursing (for professional nursing practice on the inpatient unit), and the Pediatric Division Administrator (for the ambulatory budget). Responsible for • quality patient outcomes and • the integration of overall operations, administration, personnel, and operating budget of the Pediatric and Adolescent In-patient and Ambulatory units. • managed staff of 100 FTEs; a $3M budget; 26-bed inpatient unit (ADC 21), a 12-room pediatric and adolescent clinic (18,400 visits/yr.), and a 9-bed 2-chair Pediatric Ambulatory Treatment Center. • direct reports were 1 Associate Director of the inpatient unit, 1 Nurse Manager of the Child and Adolescent Center, 1 Mid-level Supervisor, an Associate Director of Business and Finance for the division, 1 Child Life Director, and 2 Pediatric Outreach Program Managers.
