Daily Duties at United States Department Of Education:

Serves as a manager within the Department of Treasury responsible for conducting reviews of proposed acquisitions for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Provides advice and counsel to the CFO, Deputy, and the Assistant Administrator for Financial Services (ABA) management team on a wide range of management matters affecting the accomplishment of acquisition oversight and financial control programs within AFC's purview, as well as those directed by other line of businesses. The incumbent oversees the development of guidance and procedures to improve management of acquisitions and financial management practices. Reviews business cases, requirements documents, and cost estimates to ensure that proposed acquisitions are a wise investment, the costs are accurately estimated, and the requirements are clearly defined. Also reviews acquisitions and spending patterns to determine compliance with established polices and makes recommendations on new or improved controls. The incumbent applies a thorough understanding of the principles of management and strategic planning, and integrates the work of multiple organizational units/projects/programs to accomplish mission objectives. Develops guidance for program officials preparing proposals for review and establishes operating procedures that ensure consistency among the staffs performing the oversight reviews
