Daily Duties at Lyotropic Therapeutics, Inc.:

I was in charge of all scientific efforts and directions, on a day-to-day basis as well as long-range planning. I reported directly to the CEO, managed a lab of 4-6 MS/PhD level scientists, and was solely in charge of all physical, analytical and chemical issues from formulation conception, theoretical modeling, chemistry optimization and DoE, process development and technology transfer to CMO’s. Products were carried up the development curve to human/animal in vivo testing, with subsequent sale to industrial partners, whereupon scale-up and tech transfer to CRO’s led to NDA/ANDA filing with my assistance in CMC preparation. Analytical included HPLC, UV-Vis and NMR spectroscopy, Raman confocal and DIC microscopy, particle sizing and zeta pontential, etc. Direct experience with such technologies as lipid nanoparticles, nanocrystals, emulsions, liposomes, cyclodextrins, micelles, microemulsions, cubosomes, polymer encapsulation, hydrogels, prodrugs, and various sustained-release formulations. Processing experience included high-speed homogenization/emulsification, microfluidization, lyophilization, steam sterilization, gamma irradiation sterilization (contracted out), phase transformation, polymerization, etc.
