Summary of Skills and Expertise: Founder and Director of Low Country Wilderness Retreats, and Psychotherapist in Private Practice in Pawleys Island, SC. My specialty is in addictions treatment for families. I have a wealth of personal experience as well as over 20 years professional experience in the Addictions Industry. I am recognized as a proficient and committed, highly trained therapist who is very passionate in all arenas of this Industry. Over the years my experience reflects that I have had opportunities in Outpatient Hospitalization, Inpatient Hospitalization, Program development and Marketing. I was program director for the 1st Social Detox Residential facility in the state of South Carolina as well as the Employee Assistance Director. Lastly, my own life journey reflects my skills and commitment to the recovery endeavor. Professional Experience: Private Practice, Pawleys Island, SC. Psychotherapist, July 1994- Present I established a very reputable psychotherapy practice specializing in Addictions treatment. Duties included 12 core functions as well as public speaking, business management and necessary management for referral. Facilitator Men’s Groups, Women’s Groups, young peoples groups as well as married couples. Established the 1st men’s sexual addiction meeting in our area, women’s SA, and Recovering Couples Anonymous meetings. Low Country Wilderness Retreat Center: Waynesville, North Carolina Founder/Director: Summer 1997 to present Formulated vision and developed a small therapeutic retreat center for individuals and families to compliment my psychotherapy practice. My Dad and I began with 1 small cabin in the Great Smokey Mountains and over the years LCW has become 4 cabins and over 5 acres of pristine wilderness just outside of The Great Smokey National Park. I began 2 and 3 day short term therapeutic retreats primarily on the weekends. Including a variety of therapeutic techniques, Guided Imagery, Deep breathing exercises, family sculpting, other CBT and psychodrama work as well as wilderness challenges, ie; whitewater rafting, Snow skiing, Low ropes, Snow Boarding, Snow Sledding and Mountain Hiking.
