Daily Duties at Belkin Burden Wenig & Goldman, Llp:
Developed all Administration departments - Accounting, Office Services/Reception, Word Processing, file records management with all support personnel reporting directly to me. Initially scheduled and assigned work tasks and later delegated responsibility to department supervisory staff as firm expanded. Developed and Implemented all human resource policies, practices and procedures which included . conducting hiring and interviewing guidelines . orientation procedure - developed organized time schedule for each department to introduce equipment, computer applications, benefits, firm structure and culture, expectations and requirements of each position and any other related practice. . Professional and support staff performance evaluation forms. . Progressive evaluation process . Training, coaching and motivating staff to achieve goals and objectives. . Established and organized and maintained department records, including but not limited to personnel files to ensure complete accuracy and confidentiality . Liaison with Payroll processing company employee handbook division to establish form policy and procedure manual ensuring local, state and federal compliance. . Advising staff regarding personnel, benefits and payroll issues. . Worked with Managing Partner in establishing and enforcing sexual and non-harassment policies, procedures. . Developed and performed separation process for professional and support staff. Included exit interview, memorandum describing separation, vacation and severence pay by payroll period, COBRA information, 401K options, if participating, and obligations of employee to return firm property. . Provided counseling and guidance, conducted investigations to support discipline and other employee relation matters. Arbitrated disputes and documented all communications. Liaison with benefit brokers, risk management firms for administration and implementation of health insurance, 401K, section 125 programs. . Implemented first 401K plan and trust. Solely responsible for IRS audit of intial plan which resulted in complete compliance. . Handled 401K plan recordkeeping and maintained organized files for trades/contributions, compliance testing, enrollments, distributions, loans etc. . Initially brokered directly with health insurance carrier for medical and dental coverage. . Relegated health insurance and disability coverage to risk management firms to achieve cost savings. . Implemented pre-tax Section 125 programs. . Implemented long term care supplemental insurance. . Investigated and researched ways of reducing cost of benefit programs and restructuring employee contributions to ensure all employees are able to afford participation. . Provided partnership with detailed analysis of benefit carrier structure and premium comparison Established banking relationships for firm operational and attorney escrow accounts. . Developed and implemented escrow accounting procedures and pro forma documentation. . Implemented online operational and escrow trust accounting with various banks. . Developed petty cash procedures and recordkeeping. . Established personal payroll direct deposits; mortgage and loan accessibility at affordable rates. . Established business lines of credit. Prepared paperwork for partnership signature(s). . Liaison for all facility/construction projects. Attended monthly partnership meetings. Provided information and data relating to administration/personnel/benefit issues.
