Daily Duties at Westchester Medical Center Valhalla:
Work under the general direction of the Supervising hospital Pharmacist and clinical pharmacy specialist. Provide direction and supervision for supportive staff. Assume responsibility for the day-to-day comprehensive, patient-oriented pharmacy services. Exercise sound management and clinical judgment in making appropriate decisions. Identify problems that exist in assigned area of practice. Cooperate in resolution of these problems. Participates in training pharmacy interns and support personnelin each of the pharmacy service areas.: Pediatric and adult Oncology services Under supervision of the supervising oncology pharmacist provide drug information, maintained patient profiles, process all IV and chemotherapy orders. Interpret/streamlined all orders for discrepencies such as omission of indicated premedication and hydration. Obtain results of necessary labs and diagnostic tests. Rule out need for additional labs and diagnostic tests, Perform associated calculations for doses , intervals, maximal dose limits. Maintain medication records. Assure delivery and timely administration of medication orders.Records and report adverse drug events. Joined team in inservices/lectures and attend appropriate organizational educational conferences to maitain competency. Interact with patients and family to offer support.Admixed and dipensed all IV and chemotherapeutic cocktails per hospital policy and federal, state and local standards. Requested data information from drug companies as needed for clarification of potential conflicts. Added related services to illicit customer satisfaction.
