Daily Duties at Advanced Surgical Associates, P.A.:

Delivers care in compliance with standards of care and written protocols of the Bariatric Program/General Surgical Practice. Assist with in-office surgical procedures and provide IV Therapy/Phlebotomy. Conducts/coordinates medical management for patients in the Bariatric Program/General Surgery, including but not limited to: • Psychological/behavioral assessment and follow up • Medical nutrition therapy – assessment and follow up • Nursing assessment and follow up • Special needs identification and follow up • Coordinated referrals/continuum of care within the hospital systems and offices for patients following Bariatric or General surgery. • Oversight of ongoing BSCOE compliance and multidisciplinary team meetings. . • Maintained OSHA standards and compliance within Practice. • Maintained a comprehensive understanding of treatment options (surgical and medical management). • Served as a clinical resource and assists in program curriculum development and staff development/education. • Participated in activities related to clinical research and outcomes management; oversight of data base management and maintenance/specifically BOLD data base system and USGI Medical R.O.S.E. Procedure data management. • Worked collaboratively with other Conway Medical Center departments (e.g., Sleep Lab, OR, Nursing, Dietary, etc.). • Served as program advocate for Marketing, promoting Bariatric surgery/Weight Loss Surgery Program and General Surgery to the medical and lay communities. • Served as a liaison to other practice(s). • Hiring and management of office staff • Maintained awareness of budgetary issues related to ongoing Practice operations. Accomplishments: • Received ASMBS Bariatric Nurse Certification; February 2010 • In-service Nursing for care and complications of Bariatric patients. • Collaborated with Covidien/Allergan to bring HealthStream Bariatric Education Modules to Nursing Education for Hospital-wide on-line use. • Developed and maintained of Practice Website for Marketing purposes/responsible for practice branding. • Maintain and assist in developing organizational/administrative protocols for Bariatric surgery and Surgical Office Protocol.
