Daily Duties at Walter Reed Army Medical Center:
Currently serves as chief communicator for all aspects of the closing and ultimate transition and integration of Walter Reed Army Medical Center with the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda and the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Consultant and action officer to senior facility and regional leadership for communications policy and strategy - responsible for spearheading the development of communications plans, informational briefings, speeches, presentations and brochures, point papers and various media in order to provide timely and necessary information to stakeholders directly impacted by the closure of the United States’ largest, and arguably best known, military treatment facility. Hospital spokesperson for BRAC - represents Walter Reed at various army and defense industry symposia and conferences while also acting as the communications liaison between the current hospital and the new facilities. Responsible for coordinating ‘Brown Bag’ and Town Hall informational sessions and, additionally, the writing and dissemination of information valuable to staff and beneficiaries in order to facilitate change management activities inherent to the closing of the institution. Duties performed on an ongoing basis include video and photography production, scripting and editing for both formal and informal presentations; writing/editing newsletters and briefs for multiple disparate audiences; writing feature stories/articles for Joint Task Force and hospital newspaper; serving as commander’s speech/presentation writer; web content management, executive communications and marketing communications project management.
