Daily Duties at Kaiser Permanente:

As fulltime chaplain, Provide spiritual support and counseling to hospital patients, families and staff in a culturally competent manner. I work as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team. I participate in patient care planning and document all pertinent interventions in the patient care record.Respond to sacramental and religious needs of patients, families, and staff. Provide spiritual support and counseling to patients, family members/significant others, and staff. Interact daily with staff and interdisciplinary team members to formulate and evaluate patient care needs. Provide documentation in the patient care record on the health connect system. Serve on Medical Center Committees to define hospital policies and procedures. Assure accreditation compliance of the chaplaincy service. Conducted in-service training for staff in regard to providing spiritual support. Participate in professional CPSP chapters for personal and professional growth. Coordinate, supervise and evaluate lay volunteers, chaplain interns and the ecumenical interfaith chaplaincy program. Served as a liaison between the Medical Center, local congregations and religious institutions. I have worked in all the departments at Kaiser in Vallejo. The emphasis of my work has been on the 3rd floor world-class rehab center, . I work as a team member with Neurophysiologists, physical therapists, doctors, nurses, recreational therapists, and psychiatrists. I provide spiritual care and activities for people who have suffered strokes, spinal and brain injuries, and other injuries. I am gifted at working with people, and the many issues of grief and crisis that they are going through. I also work in critical care, which covers a wide range of crisis situations in people’s lives. I am skilled at listening and being present. I providing a safe relationship for the pt to go deep into their issues, feelings, and goals. I provide a spiritual care service every Sunday for the patients. I work with the recreation therapist to set up social activities, holiday events, and various personal developmental activities, such as games, play with balls and toys, and wii. I play guitar and sing, during the worship service, and for fun events. Performed on call duties an 1 days a week, plus one weekend a month.
