Daily duties included opening the store and counting change for three cash registers. Developed a deposit with remaining cash and checks. Reconciled previous day business with credit card charges and cash on hand. Ran a daily inventory update of an average 18,000 units in-house for retail sale. Did a visual inspection of warehouse paying special attention to luggage. Submitted appropriate purchase orders to vendors for maintaing stock. Reviewed submitted material for ideas for marketing and new merchandise and met, almost daily, with sales representatives. Personally approved all invoices for payment/credit memo. Received all merchandise delivered to store and supervised computer entries of same. Applied various formulas to determine retail sale price and directed merchandise to floor or warehouse. Met with customers and assisted in finding the merchandise they were interested in and made appropriate sales pitch. Operated cash register and made change. Set-up, daily, a special purchase area on the sidewalk in front of store to attract customers. Met with representatives of newspaper, radio and television to purchase time/space. Coordinated all advertising. Public relations, etc.; Managed a staff of nine part-time sales associates, three students for maintenance and janitoral needs and a staff of two full time leather repair specialists. Supervised the Repair Shop, located within the store. This was an enterprise and stand-alone component of the company. It was high volumne. we repaired luggage, sending some to manufacturer for repair, leather jackets, briefcases and handbags. Leather jacket repair more than doubled in the time I owned the store. Many facots here, including the fact that I ran a match-book ad in the local newspaper very inexpensively. Repairs had not been previously showcased. I also processed all time cards on a weekly basis and completed payroll and necessary attendant paperwork. Met with banker, accountant and legal counsel on regular basis viz on-going store business.
