Daily Duties at Decatur General Hospital:

Developed and coordinated an American Diabetes Association (ADA) outpatient Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) Program for a community based acute care facility. Developed the curriculum and PowerPoint slide presentation to conduct these DSMT classes to patients referred to me within the community on an outpatient basis. Responsible for all clerical duties, marketing responsibilities, and follow-up appointments with patients to assist the physician in the management of their patient’s disease process including insulin adjustment. Responsible for the program’s process improvement which were required to meet JCAHO standards for the program. Instrumental in keeping physicians informed of advancements in the management of diabetes.. Served as a consult for patients with diabetes in acute care which involved community resources.
