Daily Duties at Dept. Of Homeland Security/Cbp:
Conducted initial inspection of person(s) seeking entry into the United States to determine eligibility by examining documents presented, questioning, and observing applicant’s appearance/mannerisms. If discrepancies were noted, I followed established procedures by referring applicant for a more detailed examination (secondary inspection). Coordinated with and notified U.S. Customs Agents when a U.S. citizen had been recognized as, or could be, the subject of a law enforcement notification or action. In “Secondary”, conducted more extensive inspections of applicants referred from primary inspection through interview, evaluation of citizenship claim, documents, travel (present and historical), and any other pertinent data gathered. Inspected baggage, merchandise, etc., for any evidence that may have led to a false claim or contradict the person(s) stated reason for arrival. After disposition of person(s) was ascertained, administered the appropriate action in accordance with Immigration Law, to include initiating Expedited Removal, cancellation of visa(s), deferred action, detaining, escorting, or placing persons into removal proceedings.
What they like about Dept. Of Homeland Security/Cbp:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
