Daily Duties at Corrections Corporation Of America:

Conduct all investigations within Saguaro Correctional Center. Initiate and complete investigations and inquiries with accuracy by gathering information and evidence, interviewing and obtaining the statements of victims, witnesses, suspects and confidential informants; exercise independent judgment by determining when probable cause exists to take disciplinary or criminal action. Compile information gathered into a comprehensive final report to support evidence obtained. Supervise and/or collect and preserve evidence on a consistent level to preclude tampering and contamination. Secure crime scenes for further processing and investigation. Perform searches of people, objects, buildings and outdoor areas, possibly detaining people in the process. Communicate effectively and coherently to administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors and the general public; particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment. Provide inmates and their family information, instruction and guidance of programs and local services available to them. Mediate disputes, advise of rights and processes, and provide reliable testimony in court and other formal settings. Review, process and respond to lawsuits and attend court and administrative hearings. Develop an excellent professional relationship with law enforcement agencies, creating a constant flow of information between offices. Assist in the development and enforcement of facility policies and procedures. Attend staff meetings to maintain effective communication and flow of relevant information. Assist in the effective implementation and management of facility resources. Respond to inmate and staff grievances; attempt to resolve disputes and/or problems. Prepare and/or direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of standard operating records to include incident reports and escape reports/warrants, as required. Review reports and records produced by other staff members; properly process all reports and documents to appropriate management and/or agencies in a timely manner.
