Daily Duties at Union Carbide Corporation :
Member of the Corporate Central Engineering Department specializing in Environmental Engineering. Provided engineering and regulatory compliance services to multiple USA facilities. My primary focus was placed on RCRA regulations since they were just beginning to be developed and implemented by the EPA shortly after I joined the group. Thus, I was involved in the early stages of interpreting the RCRA regulations and assisting various production locations in implementing and enforcing the regulations. This effort led me into participating in the development of the first round of RCRA permit applications for those locations. I continued my focus on RCRA compliance through out my career in Union Carbide while also conducting environmental reviews of corporate major capital projects including two global joint-vemture facilities and participating in due diligence projects. It was my RCRA knowledge and experience that made it possible for me to become the RCRA Coordinator at the Freeport site when The Dow Chemical Company bought Union Carbide in late 2000.
